CASSANOVAS SIGN COOPERATION CONTRACT WITH GIZ

CASSANOVAS – FROM ROOTS TO CHIPS – MADE IN NIGERIA

On 24.October.2019 the CEO of Pacific Ring West Africa Ltd. Mr. Thomas Hirsch, in the presents of one of the Companies Director Mr. Wudil Kabir and the Companies General Manager Mr. Emeka Uweh signed a Cooperation agreement on DPP (development partnership with the private sector) between Pacific Ring and the GIZ (German cooperation) in Abuja. GIZ was represented from Mrs. Johanna Trauernicht (Junior Consultant GIZ), Mr. Emmanuel Moon (Inclusive Business Consultant GIZ) and Mr. Baba Ashmara (Team Leader from the Green innovation Centres for Agriculture and Food Sector in Nigeria). The Project duration is three years and will be supported by an expert from Germany on full time bases.

Main Project objectives:

Industrial production of cassava chips in Abuja, Nigeria. Zero Waste policy thru downstream development. Out-grower program for over 1500 Farmers.

Indicators:

  • 300 permanent jobs will be created in the cassava chips factory (200 women)
  • 1.500 farmers, integrated into the delivery chains for cassava chips (cassava, spices, intercropping)
  • Local farmer’s turnover of 6.000Mt of quality cassava tubers annually
  • Diversification of agricultural production, i.e growing spices or other marketable crops, production of animal feed, fish food, starch by-products, bee-keeping and snail farming.
